Questions we get a lot
Do you take a cut of tips?
No. Tips go to your team. Your payment provider's normal card fees apply.
Do I need Shopify?
No. Tipd works on its own or with Shopify, and more point-of-sale systems are on the way.
Can I turn off tipping?
Yes. Run ratings, compliments and rewards only.
How do you know who was working?
From your scheduling app, or from shifts entered in Tipd.
Can owners and managers be left out?
Yes, for tips, points or both, even when they're on a team.
Do customers need an app?
No. A tap or scan opens a web page.
What if a tip can't be matched to an order?
It's recorded as a tip on its own and still paid out.
Are rewards taxable?
Cash and gift cards usually are, so Tipd sends them to payroll. Check with your accountant about product rewards.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Monthly plans cancel at the end of the billing period.
